Welcome

A message from our Headteacher

Welcome to West Monkton Church of England Primary School and thank you for taking the time to visit our school website; we hope you enjoy seeing all there is on offer here.

We are proud to be a popular Church of England School and a founding member of The Oak Partnership Multi-Academy Trust, formed on 1st January 2019.

We are committed to ensuring that all the children that pass through our school are happy, safe and nurtured. Our daily offer for our children is designed to ensure that every child is fulfilling their potential and are well prepared for life beyond primary school. We believe strongly in unlocking this innate potential; valuing diversity and uniqueness as they develop through their time with us.

We are dedicated to promoting a broad and balanced curriculum, based on our Christian Values, that engages learners and advocates depth and application in a variety of contexts. In addition, we recognise the learning beyond the curriculum and work hard to personally develop our children. This year we will be utilising our newly developed Forest School provision, which coupled with our play project, will underpin our devotion to the outdoor classroom.

About the school

West Monkton School is an inclusive and joyful school that provides a stimulating environment in which we celebrate and nurture every child. Through an inspiring education rooted in core Christian values, we challenge and support our children to reach their full potential and become compassionate, courageous individuals. Our creative and rich curriculum and committed staff promote a lifelong love of learning, encouraging children to become caring and confident advocates for others and our world.

The Church of England vision for education is for all children to, ‘Have life, life in all its fullness.’ [John 10:10]. West Monkton Church School’s ethos is built upon our Christian Values, which support our children, staff and school community to experience and enjoy life in all its fullness.

Our school has long held core inclusive Christian Values at the heart of what we do.

In January 2019 the school became an academy and joined with Ruishton Church of England Primary School, Selworthy Special School and Blackbrook Community Primary School. These four school have now founded the Oak Partnership.

The Oak Partnership

The Oak Partnership Multi Academy Trust was formed on 1 January 2019. Its founder member schools are three primary schools (Blackbrook Community Primary School, Ruishton CofE Primary School and West Monkton CofE Primary School) and one all-through Special School (Selworthy Special School). All four schools were inspected by Ofsted in 2018 and were rated Good.

In total the trust accommodates over 1000 learners.

The region in which The Oak Partnership is located is at the heart of one of the biggest and fastest growing housing developments in the South West, located along the M5 corridor. There are pockets of high deprivation within these catchments and the Trust recognises challenge of encouraging aspiration amongst all within its community. It hopes to be a catalyst for higher standards and improved outcomes for all its learners, therefore enhancing life chances and social mobility throughout the region.
